Help for Today: Bread

Text: John 6:33-35

“For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” What disappears from the stores first when the threat of snow is in the area? Bread! What appears in baskets and is placed by our plates at many restaurants? Bread! Bread sustains us. Bread helps maintain life. It seems, when we can have nothing else, at least, please, give me bread. And Jesus says, “Come to Me.” Jesus is the bread of life. He sustains us and gives us life when nothing else will.
